Aberfoyle Market is rated as the top outdoor antique destinations in Ontario. But is it really??? Well, folks, let’s find out in my review.
After my first visit to Aberfoyle Antique Market, I’d have to classify this place as “not a destination,” but as a day’s adventure.
Did you know the roomer has it, there are 175 vendors at any given time at this outdoor market? That’s a huge number for an outside event! And in the spring and fall special Saturdays, you could add even more vendors to the count.
As a novice antiquities connoisseur and a once an antique dealer, I’ve been here many times before as a buyer. However, I’m compelled to give people that have never been my personal view and opinion of this “Sunday-Only Market.“
One would ask: Is it worth the time and money? Was the rating correct? “Let’s just see!”
This Daytrippen Adventure took me to Aberfoyle Antique Market, and if you’re not aware, this outdoor market is where you could easily spend a day going down memory lane. But beware, collecting something or anything that fits your fancy could be an addictive hobby. So you have been warned.
But that’s where the adventure comes into play. Adding to that equation, there are many knowledgeable vendors here; some come from all over Ontario to sell their unique hard-to-find collectibles, and many are local vendors. But up till now this might read like I have made up my mind, and I kinda have. However, you decide after reading this next paragraph.
*** The theme to this article is, “Daytrippen oriented” and is about “short, inexpensive day-trip adventures.” This happens to be another fun day out exploring what our community has to offer. *** And — still being home for supper. And that folks, aligns with my theme.

Now you ask: what should I expect when going to Aberfoyle Antique Market?
Here is my thought. Around the outside of the main buildings could be best described as last-minute vendors. But don’t let that stop you; many good deals to be had at these tables.
The main section or center of the market I would describe as having more permanent vendors. They have small roomed building they display their product and extra room to spread out more good stuff on the green.
I must apologize because it was easy for one to loose track of time here, looking at all these “hard-to-find collector items,” it would be at least a 2-hour adventure well spent.
Point of interest on the parking: if they have 5000 car spaces and people only shop for an estimated 2 -3 hours, that’s a lot of people. Without doing the math, its no wonder they call this the best outdoor market in Canada. The numbers tell the rest of the story.
Is it worth the time and money to visit this one-of-a-kind market? I SAY YES!
I’ll ask a question of my own: Where can you go for a small amount of money, spend the afternoon going down memory lane. It was a nice day outing; people were friendly, and I noticed the pricing was quite reasonable. The complex had a fun kids’ area. And, looking around, it’s a family-friendly place.
Young and old were enjoying the day, looking and buying. The price is right.
Last-minute conclusion.
One thing I did notice for you DIY people: if you’re looking for oddball door handles, knobs and hardware to turn your century-old house back to its original state. Look no further than this market. They have a really wide selection that I’ve never seen anywhere else. Chances are you will find it here.

They are easily accessible to all travellers from Hamilton, Kitchener/Cambridge, Woodstock, and all surrounding areas in the GTA. We offer free on-site parking and are completely wheelchair-friendly!
Note from Market *** As far as pets: Well-behaved dogs on short leashes are allowed on the market property, but be respectful; not everyone is a dog lover.
MY OPINION and review
As this introduction mentions, my articles are about “short, inexpensive daytrip fun adventures.” And still being home for supper.
Visiting Aberfoyle Antique Market fits the bill.
My opinion is, It’s a fun day out wandering, looking at history and maybe, for some people, going down memory lane. The price was very reasonable for an afternoon well spent.
Will I go back again? Sure!

***Another: Such a lovely place to spend a Sunday morning until about 4:00 pm. Aberfoyle Antique Market has a warm, lively atmosphere with so many unique items to explore. You can walk around, chat with people, and find little treasures for your home or as gifts. There’s also food available—I really enjoyed eating a hot dog while walking around, which made the experience even more fun. Definitely worth visiting if you enjoy vintage markets and a relaxed day out.
Extra note from the author: Daytrippen motto is: You don’t need to book a flight to take a vacation. Get out and explore the small towns in your own backyard. Get lost in the local lore, take in the sights, walk the main street, & find your new favourite getaway close to home. “And BONUS, still be home for supper.”
